Is Your Business Recession Proof?

     Recession Proof your business with a new twist on an old strategy of reciprocal referrals. What are reciprocal referrals, simple, you help my business grow and I will help yours grow. I cannot tell you how many times I was sold a pipe dream when it comes to advertising, and as an example, I was oversold on Yellow Pages listings, and got stuck with a year contract costing thousands every month with little results to show for it. I tracked all my advertising, and this was just before the internet went commercial. Simple put, in business advertising, what worked yesterday does not guarantee will work tomorrow. The same can be said for internet advertising, what worked once does not work any longer.
 
      As one who has studied and analyzed every new advertising medium ever introduced, I have seen it all, and evaluated most, and the one thing I have learned is reciprocal referrals are the best ways to build any business. In effect, it is free advertising, but you have to know how to generate referrals, and it often takes an incentive to attract attention, a free offer, a free thank you incentive you give to your existing customers to encourage them to refer their friends and families, business associates and everyone they know.

 

     Free incentives work like nothing else, so I started to research this further identify the best free or low cost incentives that I could offer my customers as a reward for referring others to my business, just as I did when I went to fellow local business owners and set up the first reciprocal referral business network. This concept spread and I ended up building a local business network of the best businesses in each business category, with each agreeing to insure the best services and lowest prices, and it worked, we all benefited all driven on reciprocal referral concept I created years ago to insure my business survived, never mind thrived in tough economic times. I was able to double my client base in less than three years utilizing this strategy.      With the Internet, now any business can do the same without the face to face contacts. After all, the internet has expanded our reach to unlimited levels if you are selling tangible items, not just service oriented businesses in local or regional areas. Sure, anyone can build the same business network I built, but now it can be international without all the time and effort doing it face to face like I had to do at the time before the internet.
